I have a pic for my wallpaper . The icons on my desktop have black squares behind the writing under the icon pics , How do I make it so the black square is gone .?

right click on your background...then left click on properties....should see it from there

that only gives me the option to change the color not remove it . I had it once but I can 't figure out how to get it back

oh you are talking about behind the icons...you able to match it so its the same color as the background?

you need a program, try desktop x. but you might have to crack it and such..
if you're on windows xp:
right click on my computer
click on advanced tab
click on "settings" button in the performance section
check: "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the Desktop"
hit OK....hit Apply...done diddly un
