heyyy not sure if im keeping the car,just curious to know some stuff,woulddddd it be possible to get an efi 351 like from a lightning and throw it into my 96 gt or would it be better to get a stroker kit???or a carbed 351??heh anyone that knows anything about conversions lemme know please

Lightning motor including blower is WAY too tall. Trust me. I did A LOT of research on that on ;D. Go with a stroker :)

thanks,how many c.i will i be looking at with a stroker kit,like 331 or something?what if i got a cowl hood or a cobra r hood?i miss the sound/power of my 306 :(

you'd need a 5" cowl.... You cant see over a 5" cowl hahah. you should have bought a 99+. Probably comparable to the sound/power of your 306...


You'd have a lot of options. I have heard 5.3L 338 is a happy combo

I think what he meant to say was a 93-95 Lightning 351W. Yes the swap from 4.6L to 5.8(351W) is possible. THe Saleen S-351 has a 5.8 in it. Talk to the epople on the corral, they would have way more knowledge of it that any of us would.

If your wanting to swap from OHC to OHV you'll need new K-member (94-95), your T-45 will not work so you'll need to find a T-5 and also you'll need to swap out your EEC-V for EEC-IV etc. There are a host of other things as well but those are pretty much the major ones. Its a pretty involved swap.

I would NEVER go back to a T5. EVER. T5s are GARBAGE. You'd just need a bellhousing that works for that application....

yah i meant a 93-95 lightning,i want a bigger motor than a 4.6,but its alotta work and doing a tranny swap and such,stroker kit would prolly be a better route orrrr a cobra motor?

cubes dont mean much. Any built 281 would easily smoke a 351....

yahhhhh its not about pwr just a preference,i like the sound of a beefy v8.......best sound ever actually my 306 sounded so good one of the loudest stangs ive heard

loud is also not always good IMHO ;D. There is a good loud (I'll use Rays car as an example) and then there is bad loud (sorry Jonathan and Greg, your cars gets that award for last year :-\ hehehhe). I hope my car isn't too loud with the new motor long tube setup.
