im not sure if many of u know but i have a 96 cobra i dont drive too often. anyways, jus wonderin wat sort of mods there are for the 4 cammer. i havent picked up a magazine or bothered to look much up since i got rid of my last coupe. right now it has an el cheapo flowmaster cat back, k&n and 4:10s. love the gearing, i think its perfect for the engine right now. its also lowered. any suggestions? ideally if i had the cash i would throw on a KB sc and some 18" cobras and be done with it. well....any other cheaper ideas? links would be great too. thanks peeps ;D

ummmm

get a shifter, c/l 80mm mass air, with trueflow inlet tube, pulleys, steeda TA, bbk or accufab throttle body, I would get an off road H pipe since you have flowmasters, also expensive but great gains for 4.6s LONGTube headers, you could get msd ignition as well.....

theres lots of stuff its just really expensive even more so compared to a regular 4.6...I would check out svtperformance.com as well.

I've heard nothing but bad things for the C&L intake for the 4V's. If anything, I would either go with the WMS high velocity setup, or possibly the JLT RAI or CAI. I'd also avoid the MSD ignition, they don't do anytihng unless you have a supercharger, and everyone complains about problems with them.

Like 97svtsnake said, longtubes work well with our cars. The BBK's are tried and true, but you need to remove the passenger side maifold to remove the tranny, making a clutchswap a real pain to do. I would be more inclined to go with Hookers which clear the tranny, and the matching H-pipe. I would skip the throttle body until you have done everything else you can do to the engine, the stock piece flows very well. I would say look into an aftermarket short-runner intake, such as the SSR.

Concidering the age of the car, it might be getting time to replace the clutch. When you do, I would recommend an aluminum flywheel. It doesn't add horsepower, but it allows the engine to rev a little faster, making it feel like you have a little more.

Also, the MOST important mod for any mustang is the subframe connectors (this may change with the new DEW98 chassis going into the '05). I would get those next no matter what. They make the car feel way better, it's amazing the effect they have. Plus you'll be extending the longevity of your car. You'll regret not doing them when your car develops the creaks and groans of old age.

FULL LENGTH subframes, they help alot, as well as a set of poly pinion bushings and a "dogbone" pinion support crossmember.

Really? I heard great things about it, my car came with just the c/l mass air....hmmm

EDIT havent done much research on the intake i meant the mass air meter itself, i agree go with the JLT CAI!

smoothpar8 i would get a nitrous nos kit 5177, im still contemplating it, well i dont have the cash, but my next mod is sub frames then, probably gears....

That wms velocity kit is 650 :o

I just did some reseacrch on the JLT kit and damn this kit is a great deal, gains of 16rwhp on a stock cobra! dyno graph to prove it by a user on the corral, its like 250 US

since i dont have the entire c/l kit, i think i will get this and add it to my mass air meter. :D

well looks like ill make a set of sub frames up, i totally forgot about that. i would love to change the exhaust next but yah, i know its a pain. the car only has 50k kms on it so its not too bad. thanks for the ideas and ill keep them in mind for next months splurge after i get back from mexico.

ah there are many options for exhaust, i have a good guess what jats gonna say(magnaflow), but me i like the look and sound of either bassani or flowmaster for the cobra ;)

honestly i have never heard magnaflow magnapacks in person, im still considering this catback supposed to be even louder then flows.

right now i have a mac o/r h and 2 chamber original flows and it sounds mean, im gonna keep this for a while.

Yeah nothing wrong with that combo. The DOHC 4V design really belts out a nice tune ;D
